Acrylic painters are welcome to join in the fun using their acrylic paints and mediums for achieving a transparent look.
Materials List
4-inch ornament base coated in a red of your choice. I used Claret Rose by JoSonja. I’ve also used blue and green backgrounds and different shapes like stars.
Titanium White oil paint
Grumbacher Gel Painting Medium (this is what I use but it can be difficult to find anymore. Below are some other options available through www.jerrysartarama or www.dickblick.com
( Sennilier Turner Transparency glaze medium,
Gamblin Solvent free Oil Gel Medium,
Grumbacher Res-N-Gel Quick Drying Extender Gel or
ZEC gel)
#2 & #4 filbert brushes
#1 liner
Brush cleaner /thinner (if you use it)
Artist’s grade refined linseed oil or walnut alkyd medium
Paper towel
Palette & tracing paper
Transfer paper or chalk to transfer pattern to ornament
Any other supplies you usually use for painting
