Linework Practice: The Basics and BEYOND….
Are you interested in improving your linework skills? If so, join Kim for this 2-session class. In the first class we’ll have a short discussion about brushes, paints and mediums and then practice some of the basics so you can continue to get ready for our 2nd class. There, we’ll work on more elaborate designs you can use to continue improving your skills while creating little works of art…Oh, and we won’t forget about teardrops and other embellishments! Both oil and acrylic painters are welcome.
Saturday March 22 & 29, 2025
10am - 12pm Central Time
Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Something to paint on, I like to practice on tracing paper. It’s semi-transparent so I can see the design underneath. You can also paint on a clear page protector, just slip the linework practice sheet inside and you can paint on the protector over and over again. A piece of clear plastic or glass could do the same thing as a page protector, also reuseable.
2. Paint, acrylic or oil, you only need 1 color. Have whatever mediums you currently use when you paint. Acrylic painters, if you have no mediums yet water will also work, and oil painters will just need some refined linseed oil and brush cleaner.
3. A liner brush, bring your favorite or have your current brushes. We can talk about alternatives during the first class.
Good brands are Josonja Sure Touch Liner brushes, and Dick Blick Masterstroke liner brushes. Size 1 or 2 is a good place to start. Script liners are a little longer than liners, and mid-liners are the shortest of the 3. I know it can be confusing so you might want to start with a liner and move up to a script liner in the future if you are a newer painter.
Both JoSonja brushes and Masterstroke brushes are available at www.dickblick.com
Any other supplies you typically use like palette knife, paper towel etc…
