Master Class: Winter Carl Hansson
Time & Date TBD Will be announced in an Upcoming 2025 Newsletter
Join Patti Goke, VGM, and explore the extraordinary life and artistry of Swedish folk artist, Winter Carl Hansson.
Winter Carl Hansson was born in 1777 in the village of Yttermo in the parish of Leksand, Sweden. He died a bachelor in 1805. In his less than 30 years of life he created some of the most iconic and masterful pieces of dalamålning found in the Dalarna region of Sweden. At age 14, yes 14, he painted his first wall panel. It showed mastery and skilled that leads some to believe that he was taught from an early age. In his short life he created over 60 pieces with more being discovered. He was an itinerant artist, which was common then, but he never left Dalarna.
