If you are interested in this CLASS ON DEMAND. send an email and indicate if you will be sending a check. Or, you can add to the basket on the right side of this page and pay through PayPal.

Kim Garrett spent time at the Dala horse factory in Dalarna, Sweden where she saw and studied the painting of the painted horses, pigs and roosters.

If you haven’t carved a rooster, but would like to paint one, you can buy a carved rooster from Stephen Heffernan at his Etsy store.

Join Kim for a discussion and demonstration on the traditions and options for painting your tuppa. During this class we’ll look at the design options as we review the history of the dala tuppa and then we’ll discuss different paint color options and other materials you will need to complete your project.

Finally, we’ll practice some of the basic strokes you commonly see on the Dala Rooster so you can paint it with confidence. Because everyone’s rooster will be different there will not be one design but several design options to use to embellish your bird and “Make It Your Own”.

SUPPLY LIST

We will be painting with acrylic paints. If you are an oil painter and prefer to paint with oils feel free to do so.

I will be using Americana or Ceramcoat Acrylics found at most craft stores, 2 ounce bottles. If you have other brands feel free to use them as well.
