THIS CLASS WILL BE TAUGHT IN OILS AND ACRYLICS (but you choOSE which ONE medium you will work in.)
In this class you will learn the basic equipment and skills you need to start rosemaling. Finally, you will learn the technique of painting in the style of shaded Telemark and add linework. You will also discuss how to finish the piece once it dries.

# 1 short handle liner or script liner (for line work)
Jerry’s Artarama Brand Creative Mark Golden Taklon brushes, Princeton Velvet Touch, Blick Masterstroke (Dick Blick brand) are all
reasonably priced good brushes. Brushes should be available at both www.Jerrysartarama.com and www.DickBlick.com.
PAINT:
OILS: Choose an Artist Grade Paint like Rembrandt, Grumbacher or Lucas
These have better color saturation (They are available at Jerry's Artarama or Dick Blick on-line). Be aware that oil paint sold in craft stores are typically student grade meaning they are less expensive but have less pigment and do not cover as well.
Titanium White
Raw Sienna
Venetian Red
Burnt Umber
ACRYLIC: Choose an Artist Grade Paint like Golden, JoSonja, DecoArt
Titanium White
Raw Sienna
Red Earth + Yellow Oxide (1:1)
Burnt Umber
BACKGROUND ACRYLIC: I use Americana or Delta Ceramcoat (available at local craft stores)
Choose one of these colors: Heritage Brick, Midnight Blue, Forest Green
And you will need a Gold acrylic for antiquing
I buy many of my oil and acrylic artist grade paints and brushes from www.jerrysartarama.com or www.DickBlick.com. Usually I buy backgound acrylic paints at my local craft store.
I buy my M. Graham walnut Alkyd Medium on Amazon, boiled linseed oil and odorless paint thinner can be found at most hardware stores along with a sponge brush for backgrounding.
For the wooden Discs I use the Etsy store CraftCutConcepts. Item number SO-0001. 4 or 5 inch diameter, 1/8 inch thick and I have them add a hanging hole.
You can usually find wooden discs at different places but they might be a little bigger in size.
