CLASS ON DEMAND: Linework with a Knut Horne Inspired Design
Would you rather have your wisdom teeth pulled than to do lifework? All joking aside, let’s face it, linework makes or breaks a piece whether it is rosemaling or another art form such as iconography.
Join Patti Goke for a lining class inspired by Knut Horne (1763-1848). Horne was a painter from the Oppdal/Trøndelag areas of Norway. He was the son of a rosemaler, Erik Horne. Their pieces were used to decorate two buildings at Sverresbog Museum in Trondheim, Norway: the Detli house and the festhus. Horne’s work in the museum is truly folk art that are based on parallel lines, using just two colors. His work on trunks is more like fine art with detailed portraits, but the inside of the trunks had his parallel linework found on the ceiling at the festhus.
